Time slots: book one before you go

Entry to the palace is by time slot, and from April to October you are only sure of getting in if you have booked online. Even visitors with free entry need to book a free slot. With an online ticket you can enter within half an hour of the time shown on it. The gardens and the Trianon do not need a time slot.

If your slot is the last one of the day you will not manage to see the whole palace: choose a morning slot if you can.

Fountain shows and garden tickets

In 2026 the Musical Fountains Show runs on Saturdays and Sundays from 4 April to 1 November, and on Tuesdays from 5 May to 30 June. The Musical Gardens, with music only and no fountains, run from Tuesday to Friday from 1 April to 30 October. On these days the gardens need a ticket. On other days, and from November to March, the gardens and the park are free.

On the Saturday evenings from 6 June to 19 September 2026 there is also a night show. On some Saturdays and on 14 July the gardens close early, from 5:30pm.

Free entry and reductions

Entry is free for visitors under 18 and, for the palace and the Trianon, for young people under 26 who live in the EU, always with a free time slot for the palace. People with disabilities and one companion, some job seekers and people on social benefits in France, and teachers in France also have free entry, with a document.

From December to March, on the first Sunday of the month, the whole estate is free, but the palace still needs a time slot.

How long does a visit take?

The route through the palace takes about an hour and a half, the gardens and the fountains about two hours, and the Trianon and the Queen's Hamlet about four hours, in the afternoon. A day is the right amount of time for all three. Arrive around 9am, or in the late afternoon.

Bags, lockers and facilities

Bags are checked at the entrance and large luggage is not allowed. Lockers are in the north wing, the Aile des Ministres Nord, when the service is running. The toilets are in the basement of the Dufour Pavilion, after Entrance A, and there are none on the first floor. Audio guides are best booked in advance and collected at the Dufour Pavilion.
