By RER C

The RER C leaves from central stations such as Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame, Musée d'Orsay, Invalides and Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel. Get off at Versailles Château Rive Gauche and walk for about 10 minutes. The ride takes under an hour, depending on where you start.

Check the destination on the board before you board: some trains end at Versailles Chantiers, which is farther from the palace.

By SNCF train

From Paris Saint-Lazare, trains reach Versailles Rive Droite, about 17 minutes on foot from the palace. From Paris Montparnasse, trains reach Versailles Chantiers, about 18 minutes on foot, on a route that is partly uphill.

By bus or with transport included

Bus 171 runs from Pont de Sèvres and takes about 30 minutes without traffic. If you would rather not work out the trains, choose one of the packages with transport from Paris on the tickets page.

By car

The A13 motorway, exit 5 Versailles Centre, is closed towards Versailles from 16 November 2026 to 31 August 2027, so in that period train is the better choice. Paid parking is available in Place d'Armes, in front of the palace.

Moving around the estate

The Grand Trianon is about 25 to 30 minutes on foot from the palace. A little tourist train, about 20 minutes, links the palace with the Trianon and the Petit Trianon. The estate is very big and the paths are long, so wear comfortable shoes.

Access for people with reduced mobility

Free wheelchairs are available at the palace. The attics are not accessible, and the gardens are not easy for wheelchairs: the gardens can be reached by car, with parking near the Neptune basin and an entrance at the Porte de la Reine. At the Petit Trianon the garden floor is accessible.
