Sainte-Chapelle & Conciergerie: Entry Ticket

Time slots and which to visit first

The Sainte-Chapelle manages entry by time slot. If your ticket shows a time, arrive then and not before: you get in within 30 minutes of it. The Conciergerie has no slot, so you can visit it before or after the chapel, during its opening hours. In winter the chapel closes at 5pm while the Conciergerie stays open until 6pm, so if your slot is late, go to the Conciergerie first.

How long does the visit take?

Count on 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes for the Conciergerie. For the chapel, the time depends on how long you stay in front of the windows, so allow some extra time for the queue and the security check.

Security checks and what you cannot bring

Both monuments are inside the Palais de Justice, so the checks are very strict. You cannot take in motorcycle helmets, aerosols, knives or sharp objects (small scissors too), glass bottles, large luggage, scooters, skateboards or roller skates. There is no left-luggage, and forbidden items are confiscated and not returned. Small folding pushchairs are allowed, but not in the upper chapel. Animals are not allowed, except guide dogs.

Free entry and reductions

Entry is free for visitors under 18, for young people from 18 to 25 who are citizens of the EU or legal residents in France, for people with disabilities and one companion, for job seekers with a certificate and for teachers with the Pass Education. On the first Sunday of January, February, March, November and December the Sainte-Chapelle is free, with no booking; the Conciergerie is free on the first Sunday of January, February, March and November.

Steps and accessibility

There are 33 steps up to the upper chapel. A lift is available for people with reduced mobility, by calling the staff. The Sainte-Chapelle can be visited by people with reduced mobility, but the Conciergerie is not equipped for them.

Audio guides and free tours

You can rent an audio guide on site in French, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. There is also a free guided tour in French, 45 minutes long, at 11am and 3pm, when the staff are available.
